• Sphinx for SignOff (V3.0) is a Frequency Domain Signal and Power Co-Simulator.  Through careful discretization of the Helmholtz equation, its conversion into a circuit representation and through proprietary transmission line referencing methods, Sphinx for Signoff offers a solution that captures the physical phenomena occurring when high speed signals propagate on interconnections in the presence of power distribution networks.  It captures the lateral coupling in layered stacks, the vertical coupling through apertures and the effect of referencing on signal lines. This method is known as Multilayered Finite Difference Method (M-FDM).

  • Sphinx for Signoff Benefits:
    • Signal and Power Frequency domain solver for IC packages, printed circuit boards and electronic systems
    • Powerful simulation engine providing users the best of both worlds: accuracy and entire system analysis
      • Accurately accounts for apertures, gaps, wrap around currents and return path discontinuities that are often unaccounted
      • Fast and memory efficient engine and solver
      • Able to add capacitors, planes, Tlines and vias for fast ‘what if analysis’
      • Capacitor library supported allowing user to define what vendor’s capacitors can be used
      • Supports scripting console allowing non-graphics operations to be performed with less memory and significantly less time to complete
    • Easy integration to current EDA/CAD flows by accepting the following formats:
      • DXF
      • MCM
      • BRD
      • SiP
    • Computes S, Y or Z network parameters allowing users to determine how they want to analyze their design
    • Voltage distribution on planes and transmission lines allow users to quickly identify critical areas
    • Users wanting to do perform Time Domain analysis have a proven flow with IdEM Plus creating macro models from Sphinx's results

IdEM Plus – A PASSIVE MACROMODELING TOOL

  • IdEM has strong links with world leading research groups in the field of modeling and simulation. This is a guarantee of fast and direct technology transfer. IdEM uses best-in-class algorithms to build macro-models, including a proprietary data causality certification module based on Hilbert transform, highly scalable rational fitting modules enabling unlimited port counts, and top-class passivity enforcement schemes for safe and stable transient simulations. If a user has purchased BOTH Sphinx and IdEM Plus licenses, Sphinx users have a seamless GUI interface to IdEM Plus.  IdEM Plus is a user friendly tool for the generation of macro-models of linear lumped multi-port structures (e.g., via fields, connectors, packages, discontinuities, etc.), known from their input-output port responses. The raw characterization of the structure can come from Sphinx’s frequency domain simulation. The resulting models are cast in common SPICE formats for the system-level simulations required in your design flow. Thus, IdEM Plus enables SPICE processing for any kind of linear structure, component, interconnect or package.
